glam powder room diy

May 26, 2011

hi there,
how are you all?
remember my post when i talked about powder rooms? i posted some images of mine too. it looked beautiful and i liked it…then. but the design bug hit me again and i wanted a change it…start fresh…make it unexpected to every visitor…even a repeated one.
when idea strikes…speaking of idea i found my inspiration for my powder room’s new look: vintage glamour.
you see, my daughter is a very talented young guitarist. she inspires me to express my love for music i never thought i would. i even designed a rug inspired by her talent but that’s another post. so when i went to the art store to buy markers i spot this card stock album on a shelf, filled with pages showing gorgeous music elements you know which one i’m talking about?
and  i’m thinking: why not take this card stock papers and use them as a wallpaper?? genius!!
so i did.
assuming you’ve read my post i mentioned above (it’s o.k. if you havn’t…but you should), then you probably know how it looked before. and this. this is how it looks like now:

i used wallpaper glue to apply one square foot sheets on the wall. you have to be very neat. i discovered that after my second messy mistake…
don’t you just love these music notes? i mean really you can sit there and read them…

sunday fuel

May 15, 2011

i miss my husband…i do…very much. i want to kiss him badly. he is the best. but he is not here now…he is at icff. i should have been there too now but some last minute changes made me stay. so today it’s sunday and rainy…gives me a chance to do something i wanted to do for a while…furniture rearranging and relocating some rugs from other rooms. my husband will be surprised…again…but it’s all good.
so off i go…and in the meantime…enjoy the rest of sunday and don’t do what i do (rearranging furniture instead of laying on the beach)…just take a brake and enjoy yourselves.

A place to powder one’s nose

November 18, 2010

One of my favorites rooms in a house is a powder room. A powder room is like a baby waiting to be pampered, waiting to be dressed pretty and decorated with little bows and buttons, waiting to be powdered with sweet smells. A powder room that says:

kiss me. I know you want to.

This is a powder room in my house. I was happy to work on it because first it’s a DIY project, second it allowed me to brake the rules and do what ever I wanted.
Textured walls are painted in Midnight blue color. White crown moldings add personality and perspective.
Bright white accessories show off moody walls.
Gilded ceiling in silver shimmers even in the dark.
Can this little powder room be more glamorous? I think not.
Do you have pictures of a beautiful or corky (in a good way kind of way) powder rooms? Feel free to email them to me. I’ll post them here. What does your powder room look like?
