What will be my inspiration for the next rug collection? I’m often asked by clients and friends. Although I’m honored by the fact that they show interest in our line, I don’t always have a straight answer. I guess I let inspiration find me. I just never know what to expect.
For that I’ve decided to write this post and keep you updated about the happenings at RUG ART: Our company is at hard work. The staff here and abroad, myself and Vidal are sampling, drawing, sketching, selecting, coordinating and, last but not least, weaving as I speak, our newest addition of rug collection for spring 2011.
Well, we do not weave the rugs ourselves, it would be impossible. For that we have a wonderful team of artisans in Nepal and India, that helps us turn our vision into reality by creating beautiful hand knotted pieces of rug art, so you, dear and inspiring reader/client/future client, will enjoy these rugs for years to come.
This is a preview inspiration turned into rug designs which will be showcased at the ICFF this coming spring, May 14-17 2011, at the Javits center in New York City. Hope to see you there. Of course, you are invited. 🙂
Long hours spent on pencil drawings (top right), fibers and colors were repeatedly selected ’till I got it right, samples were modified, I even tasted my inspiration. Yes, I did.
What to expect from this collection you are asking? Well, inspirational designs originated from distant countries, the kind that are not ordinarily encountered. Designs that are intricately hand-knotted into a lush smooth pile of soft Himalayan wool, touched by elegant shimmery silk and Pashmina wool in the most unexpected composition.
I’m getting all excited as I write this post because this year was my most experienced travel year yet and I want to share this with you. I’ve encountered the unexpected, touched the unusual and saw magic. I returned home brainwashed.
Another peak of what was going on this year:
Has taken me to encounter this
We at RUG ART hope to see you soon =)
